Timberland Construct : 10061

"Oak" & "Venus"

I began my process by exploring solutions from this curious world of ours, that I could cross pollinate into the Timberland 6-inch boots architecture.

For the "Oak" boot I utilized the textures and organisms that inhabit trees to envision a more robust 6-inch boot.

"Venus" is more mysterious, taking inspiration from carnivorous plants Featuring a lace-less closure system modeled on the microstructure of the fly trap itself.

This was an Instagram challenge and the brief was provided by the Construct team.

Brief: Submit an original design that reimagines the iconic Timberland 6-inch boot through the lens of TECTRA - a biologically focused design direction that forecasts the future of footwear and its position within the natural world.

Each structured component is grown & formed into a mold with the aid of a catalyst. An automated "tailor bird" assembly cuts, stitches, & adheres structured/soft components.

At end of the product lifecycle, it is placed into a solvent to dissolve stitching/adhesive, leaving the raw materials to be "re-booted".
